Details of Position: The Accommodation and Welfare Officer plays a key role in ensuring the wellbeing and support of all students, particularly those living in college-arranged accommodation. This role involves managing accommodation placements, overseeing student welfare services, and acting as a point of contact for pastoral support. The ideal candidate will be approachable, organised, and passionate about student care and experience.


About Kings Hall College

We are a brand-new college looking to do things differently. We offer year-round English programmes including general English, business English and exam preparation. Our courses are enhanced by a varied, stimulating extra-curricular programme which extends students learning beyond the classroom and allows them to form lasting friendships with classmates from around the world.


Key Responsibilities

Accommodation Coordination:

* Manage and maintain a database of host families, student residences, and other accommodation providers.
* Match students with suitable accommodation based on individual preferences, needs, and availability.
* Conduct regular checks and inspections to ensure accommodation meets college standards and safeguarding requirements.
* Liaise with hosts, students, and parents to resolve any accommodation-related issues promptly and professionally.
* Maintain up-to-date records and ensure GDPR compliance.

Student Welfare & Support:

* Serve as the first point of contact for welfare concerns and provide appropriate guidance or referrals.
* Conduct welfare check-ins with students and monitor their overall wellbeing.
* Support students in adapting to life in the UK, including cultural integration and practical advice.
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.

Safeguarding & Compliance:

* Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and follow college safeguarding procedures.
* Report and document any safeguarding concerns in a timely and confidential manner.
* Ensure accommodation providers comply with safeguarding and child protection policies.

Administration & Reporting:

* Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including accommodation agreements, inspection reports, and student welfare notes.
* Assist in the preparation of reports for inspections or audits (e.g., British Council, ISI).
* Support the Admissions and Enrolment team during peak periods, especially in accommodation-related tasks.
* Experience working in a student services, pastoral care, or accommodation setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
* Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection principles.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using student databases.
* Previous experience working in an international education environment.
* First Aid and/or Mental Health First Aid training.
* Knowledge of local accommodation regulations and standards.
