The Role
* To provide orthoptic services as an autonomous practitioner.
* To work as an active member of a multi- disciplinary team.
* To undertake primary vision screening as part of the Pre-school Orthoptic led Vision Screening Programme
* To be autonomously responsible for the diagnosis, management and treatment of patients presenting to the Orthoptic department and formulate relevant discharge plans and make appropriate onward referral
* To take direct referrals from medical professionals e.g. Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, A&E, Maxillo-facial, Endocrine, Neurology, Geriatrics and Community Health, and to make the appropriate onward referral.

What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Orthoptist with valid HCPC Registration
* The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
* Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Excellent time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
* Exemptions for the supply and administration of medicines qualification
* Experience of working in an Orthoptic department
* Experience of working in an Optometry practice
* Experience of working in another health or social care environment
* Aware of HCPC code of conduct and professional guidelines

Please note this is a fixed term post for 6 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Acute Services within University Hospital Wishaw.
The working pattern for this role will be discussed at interview.
