About us
The Passenger Transport Unit Deputy Operations Manager is a new role and is part of the team responsible for the delivery of the school transport service, providing transport for students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) to their school or college provision over the academic year.
We currently have an exciting vacancy within our team to continue building on our success and bring new experience, knowledge, and ideas.
Role Responsibilities
* Deputise for the Operations Manager, ensuring transport services are responsive and inclusive for students, families, educational establishments, and staff.
* Manage passenger assistant staff in line with operational requirements.
* Support the management of passenger routes and journeys through a team of Transport Coordinating Officers, Administrative Officers, and Passenger Assistants.
* Ensure routing is efficient, making the best use of staff and vehicle resources.
* Provide high-quality, safe, and cost-effective services for all passengers.
About You
You should have proven experience in a similar role, with skills in logistical resource management, preferably with experience in coordinating SEND passenger transport logistics.
We seek an enthusiastic, flexible individual who is adaptable, committed, and proud to work for the Council. You should be calm under pressure, with good communication, organizational, and time management skills. Proficiency in office software is required, and willingness to learn new software. Knowledge of legislation related to children with SEND is desirable.

Please note this post is subject to a DBS check, costing £49.50, deducted over four months from your salary. If you do not start employment, you will be invoiced for this amount.
