About the Role
Temporary until 31/08/2026. We are looking for a highly competent and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to join our team at the Swale Farm site. The role is farm‑based, working in a modern, hygienic farming environment.

Hours of Work
Monday to Sunday, 6 days a week, 07:00 – 16:30.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain optimum environmental conditions to ensure bird welfare and biosecurity practices are upheld.
* Complete feeding, vaccinating and grading of the birds.
* Ensure site maintenance and general Avara Foods standards are met.
* Supervise staff and third parties on site, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety procedures.
* Comply with legislative and assurance scheme standards.
* Maintain accurate records as stipulated by Avara Foods and UK legislation (goods and service received, generator, alarm logs, crop records, medication register, accident book, etc.).
* Operate the farm within effective cost‑management parameters.
* Ensure high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and husbandry practice are maintained.
* Work on other farm sites when required.
* Cover for the Farm Manager in their absence.
* Report directly to the Farm Manager.
What You'll Need To Be Successful
* Own transport is essential; travel to different sites may be required.
* Previous livestock experience, not necessarily poultry but excellent stockmanship.
* NVQ/Diploma level 3 in Poultry production or similar agriculture qualification desirable; training will be provided.
* Effective communication and people skills.
* Willingness to learn and self‑motivation.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and perform manual duties.
* Basic IT skills, including use of record systems.
