Mechanical Design Engineer Water and Wastewater Infrastructure London Leading International Civil Engineering Contractor Salary £55,000 to £75,000 DOE plus package The Company This is an opportunity to join a major civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong presence across the UK and Ireland. The business is widely recognised for delivering complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects, operating as both principal contractor and design and build partner on large scale frameworks. With a secure pipeline of long term water industry work in London and across the South East, they are delivering major treatment plants, pumping stations, trunk mains and network upgrades. The Role Mechanical Design Engineer As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of large scale water and wastewater projects across London. Working within a multidisciplinary design and build team, you will be responsible for developing mechanical designs from concept through to detailed design and construction support. You will contribute to the successful delivery of complex clean water and wastewater treatment schemes, ensuring that all mechanical solutions meet client specifications, regulatory standards and programme requirements. This is a technically challenging position offering exposure to major infrastructure works within the UK water industry. Key Responsibilities • Develop mechanical designs for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and associated infrastructure • Produce and review mechanical calculations, specifications, datasheets and technical submissions • Design process and hydraulic systems including pipework layouts, pumping systems and treatment equipment • Work closely with civil, electrical and process engineers within a design and build environment • Liaise with clients, consultants and supply chain partners to ensure coordinated project delivery • Support value engineering initiatives to optimise cost and performance • Provide technical support during procurement, construction and commissioning phases • Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK water industry standards and health and safety regulations About You • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline • Strong experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within the water and wastewater industry • Proven background delivering design and build projects on large scale infrastructure schemes • Experience with water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations or network infrastructure • Strong knowledge of UK water industry standards and design requirements • Competent in producing detailed design documentation and technical reports • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple design packages • Focused on quality, technical accuracy and delivering to programme deadlines What’s on Offer Salary: £55,000 to £75,000 DOE Benefits: • Performance related bonus • Pension contribution • Private healthcare • Ongoing CPD and professional development support • Long term career progression within the UK water sector Why Apply This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer in London who wants to work on major water and wastewater infrastructure projects within a secure long term framework.
