Triage Lead – Senior Nurse Practitioner (Band 7)
Full Time – 37.5 hours | Permanent | Hastings

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Nurse Practitioner to lead triage within the Hastings and Rother Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams (NMHT).
About the role
This is a senior clinical leadership role focused on triage and referral management, ensuring patients are assessed and directed to the right care at the right time.
You will play a critical role in managing demand, supporting patient flow and maintaining high standards of clinical decision-making within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Leading the Triage Team and overseeing incoming referrals
* Ensuring referrals are assessed and managed within agreed timescales
* Supporting safe, effective clinical decision-making at the front end of the service
* Providing specialist mental health assessments and interventions
* Working closely with medical colleagues to support patient flow and discharge planning
* Building strong relationships with partners, primary care and third sector services
* Providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to team members
* Contributing to service development, audit and improvement work
This role requires a confident practitioner who can work autonomously while maintaining strong collaborative working across systems.
Working pattern
* Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
* Working across Hastings and Rother NMHTs

About you
You will be an experienced mental health practitioner with strong clinical and leadership capability.
You will hold:
* Registration as a Mental Health Nurse (or equivalent)
* Degree/diploma with further specialist training (or equivalent experience)
You will also demonstrate:
* Extensive experience in community mental health settings
* Strong risk assessment and clinical decision-making skills
* Experience supervising and supporting staff
* Ability to manage complex referrals and patient pathways
* Confidence working across multi-agency systems
* Resilience, initiative and a collaborative approach
