About The Role
As the Principal Officer your responsibilities will include:
* Leading and managing a team of dedicated professional officers
* Ensuring effective investigation and enforcement of a wide range of community based legislation, ranging from fundamental public health protection legislation through to powers provided under anti‑social behaviour.
* Providing expert advice and guidance to the community and partners on a range of environmental health based law.
* Use Intelligence based data to provide positive outcomes to areas in need of our service
* Collaborating with other regulatory services to deliver joined‑up enforcement activities
* Managing complex cases and providing support to team members - including attending court and reviewing case files
* Using strategic assessment to evaluate and plan new initiatives for the benefit of the community we serve
* Reporting on service performance and contributing to strategic planning
Additional Responsibilities
* Working with the community to promote compliance and support economic growth
* Delivering educational initiatives to raise awareness of community issues
* Being part of a wider team of professional officers dedicated to seeing positive changes across the partnership
* Participating in regional and national initiatives to tackle emerging issues
About You
* Extensive experience working in a community protection and environmental health role, with a solid understanding of relevant legislation
* Proven leadership and people management skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
* Self‑motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

* You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
