About the Service – Cragside House
Cragside House is a small, friendly supported living service with a strong focus on independence, routine, and meaningful activities. We are looking for kind, energetic and down-to-earth Support Workers to join us from the very start.
Service User Interests
The people we support enjoy a wide range of activities, and Support Workers play a vital role in enabling these experiences, including:
* Swimming
* Skittles and leisure activities
* Going out shopping
* Spending time in the community
The best part. Everything is within walking distance, so this is a really hands-on, active role — not one where you’re stuck indoors all day.
Support is provided 24 hours a day, including day shifts and waking night shifts.
The Role
You will:
* As a Support Worker, you’ll be: Building positive, trusting relationships
* Supporting people with daily living and personal goals
* Encouraging independence and choice
* Supporting individuals to access activities they enjoy
* Working in line with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
* Supporting with health needs and medication (full training provided)
This is a role where you really get to know the people you support and see the difference you make every day.
* Deliver person-centred support in line with individual support plans
* Assist with daily living skills and personal care where required
* Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing
* Support activities, appointments, and community access
* Maintain accurate records and work effectively as part of a team
* Work on a rota
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.
Requirements
* Ability to work days, evenings, alternative weekends and bank holidays
* Experience of supporting adults with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs
* Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech)
* Good communication and written skills
* Ability to keep calm under pressure
* Confidence to work alone and also be part of a team (family)
* Experience with autism, epilepsy or challenging behaviour is great, but not essential — attitude matters more than experience.
