About the role
Balfour Beatty is currently recruiting an OHL Technician to join the Power T&D team in Derby.
We are open to both full time and part time candidates (including job share), and offer a flexible working policy.
Role purpose: To support the Overhead Line drawing team function within the Engineering department by completing drawings for
projects in accordance with programme, quality requirements and cost.
What you'll be doing
Key Accountabilities:
Support all activities within the Overhead Line drawing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Control of all allocated drawings allocated by the Team Leader.
Organise, undertake and monitor the progress of allocated drawings
Arrange preparation of all necessary drawings and documents for a project within defined area of responsibility.
Liaise with the designer and/or technicians to obtain the most suitable interpretation of requirements
Check of all drawings, material lists, calculations and other documents within area of responsibility to ensure that satisfactory standards are maintained. Ensure that all drawings and documents have signatures present as specified in the Procedures
Participate in the development of all software packages, and in particular, the introduction of new facilities and their use by other members of the drawing team
Understand, maintain and apply Divisional QA policy and procedures in line with the requirements of ISO9001:2000 and to ensure corrective and preventive action in respect of products, services and the quality system.
Participate in the review and improvement of drawing team process maps and documents.
Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior level technicians.

Who we're looking for
Skills Required:
Essential:
Must be proficient in MicroStation latest versions
Wire Clearance Diagrams
Experience in preparation of Layout Drawings.
Insulator Set Drawings
Composite Route Maps
Desirable:
3D modelling of components.
Preparation of material schedules.
Experience in substation/power generation.
Experience using Navisworks software.
AutoCad latest versions
Profiling using PLSCADD
Profiling tower lines using Optimal TowerCAD
Tower Line Schedules
Pole Line Schedules
Phasing Diagrams
Construction stage by stages
Scaffold clearance checks
