About the role:
1. Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey
2. Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral
3. Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
4. Promoting carer, service user and community involvement
5. To form productive working relationships with external agencies and professionals, existing and new, to ensure that service users have access to a wide range of recovery and social care support resources.
6. To provide service users with ongoing opportunities to consult on service development working jointly to develop and deliver services, as appropriate, under the direction of management.
7. Act as a contact person for other professionals working as a ‘Team Around the Person.
8. Work with individual drug and alcohol users, their carers and partner agencies to ensure the provision and development of social care packages reflects their needs and aspirations;
9. Demonstrate a commitment to equity of access and outcomes, this will include due regard to equality, diversity, dignity, respect and human rights and working with others to keep vulnerable people safe from abuse and mistreatment
10. Research, design and prepare subject matter and materials for groups / pods.
11. Deliver structured content within group settings to service users at various stages of recovery
12. To co-ordinate the collaboration of services and professionals in a ‘Team Around the Person’ in order to build effective and responsive community social care packages of support
13. Tailor specific workshops around the needs of the service users, such as: anger management, sleep disorders, relationships, etc
About you:
14. An understanding and knowledge of the harmful effects associated with drug misuse in relation to health, social welfare, housing, employability and personal relationships.
15. Knowledge and understanding of social support available to substance users.
16. Knowledge and understanding of the welfare system
17. Knowledge and understanding of policies related to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and how these influence practice.
18. Experience of working with groups/pods and managing group dynamics, such as conflict or challenging behaviour.
19. Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills
20. Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
21. Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
22. Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
23. Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
24. Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
25. Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others
