Smoking Cessation Advisor

Join us at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) as part of our exciting maternity transformation journey. We are seeking a dedicated Smoking Cessation Advisor to provide high‑quality care for mothers, birthing people and babies. You will work with our Public Health team to deliver smoking cessation support and perform administrative duties, including administration, telephone and face‑to‑face clinics. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the wellbeing of our patients and help PAHT remain the preferred place of birth and employment.
Employment terms: fixed‑term until 31 March 2027 (driving licence and access to a car essential).

Responsibilities
* Organise own daily workload, working unsupervised and prioritising tasks to meet service needs, while upholding equality, diversity and social inclusion.
* Maintain a close working relationship with the Healthy Lifestyle Midwife and other Stop Smoking Advisors and support them as required.
* Act on referrals, including self‑referrals, and work with pregnant women and people to identify the most suitable tobacco‑dependency treatment pathway.
* Record and report activities and results accurately.
* Assess and develop treatment plans for service users identified as smokers, planning and undertaking virtual and face‑to‑face appointments, and holding motivational conversations.
* Implement treatment plans and provide behavioural support, including advising on pharmacotherapy, e‑cigarettes and nicotine replacement therapy, and taking carbon monoxide monitor readings.
* Accurately input data and retrieve information from IT systems, maintaining contemporaneous and accurate records of care offered.
* Collaborate closely with the Public Health Midwife, community midwives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to A level or equivalent experience.
* NVQ in health‑related studies or equivalent experience in community settings.
Experience
* Experience in health promotion and delivering campaigns.
* Proven experience in an administrative role.
* Experience in an engagement‑focused role.
* Experience providing smoking cessation support or supporting people with behavioural change.
