Job description:
We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Cyclical Gully Emptying Operative (non-driver) to join our client’s highways maintenance team. Working as part of a 2-person crew, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient cleaning of gully (drains) across West Devon as part of the Council’s term maintenance contract.
This is a vital role in maintaining the counties drainage infrastructure, helping to prevent flooding and ensure road safety for all users.
Requirements for this role:-
1. Operate gully emptying vehicles and associated equipment to clean and maintain roadside drainage assets. This role also involves a large amount of manual work especially when hand digging drains to ensure the water flow continues.
2. Work from scheduled routes and respond to ad-hoc requests as required.
3. Accurately record completed work using handheld devices or paper logs.
4. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
5. Liaise with supervisors and other team members to ensure efficient service delivery.

Applicants must have:
9. Full drivers license
10. CSCS card (Preferred)
11. Driving license with no more than 6 points considered
12. Good timekeeping skills
13. Willingness and flexibility to undertake some shifts out of normal working hours
14. Willingness to carry out other tasks upon request
Hours of work:
Monday – Friday, days or nights.
Rate of Pay:
15. £ – £ per hour
16. Overtime at 150% after 40 hours Monday – Friday, nights and Saturdays
17. Standby payments for being on call Monday – Thursday or Friday – Sunday
These will be PAYE positions so you will benefit from:

22. No umbrella payments or fees
23. Only Tax and National Insurance deductions and this will be shown on your payslip.
