MEP Data Centre Lead
Our client is a first-generation Construction Company with operations across Ireland, UK, and Northern Europe. We specialize in Critical Environments such as Data Centres, Life Sciences, Aviation, High-Value Manufacturing, and Critical Logistics.
We are seeking a senior MEP Lead to join our team in London, overseeing MEP deliverables for Data Centre projects.
Project Details:
The project will be executed in phases, including main building works such as large-diameter pile installation, ground beam substructure, pile caps, a heavy structural steel frame (9 floors), composite cladding, outer rainscreen, two precast concrete central core areas, MEP infrastructure, and full fit-out of data halls on Level 1 & 2 with associated plant. Additional works include underground drainage, critical services infrastructure, external works, link bridge to the existing campus north building, and construction of a single-storey security gatehouse.
Purpose of Role:
You will manage all aspects of MEP design, procurement, installation, and commissioning across multiple projects. You will lead and develop a team of MEP engineers, contractors, and consultants, ensuring quality and compliance in all MEP works.
This senior role offers significant potential to influence the company’s strategic goals. You will work with internal and external stakeholders, propose innovative solutions, and enhance the company's reputation as a leader in MEP services.
Role Responsibilities:
* Attract, retain, and lead a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Commissioning engineers.
* Build a network of suppliers, MEP contractors, and consultants.
* Develop and implement procurement and delivery strategies for multiple projects.
* Ensure quality and compliance of MEP design, procurement, installation, and commissioning per project specifications, budget, and schedule.
* Review drawings, specifications, and schedules for accuracy and completeness.
* Propose alternatives and develop engineered solutions for project success.
* Monitor procurement, delivery, and commissioning progress, integrating with the project program.
* Coordinate MEP installation to eliminate wasteful activities.
* Prepare and monitor technical submittals for client approval.
* Oversee LEED and BREEAM compliance and submissions.
* Prepare operation and maintenance manuals.
* Plan and execute commissioning activities to meet client requirements, ensuring milestones are achieved.
* Organize and lead client demonstrations.
Candidate Profile:
* Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
* Relevant engineering degree and leadership experience.
* Minimum 10 years in a similar role within a main contractor, large engineering contractor, or engineering consultancy.
* Proven track record of long-term service with organizations.
* Strong knowledge of digital technology, MEP standards, and regulations.
* Excellent commercial awareness and decision-making skills.
* Ability to attract, develop, and retain engineering teams.
* Experience reviewing client designs and providing value-added solutions.
* Proactive and collaborative working style with stakeholders.
* Flexibility to travel as required.
