Support Worker/Personal Assistant Required (Evesham/Worcestershire)
We have an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive Support Worker/Personal Assistant in the Evesham area. The role will be supporting a lovely 38-year-old gentleman with an Acquired Brain Injury. Our client is young at heart who’s goal is to live the same sort of lifestyle as any other young man in his 30’s. Our client suffered a severe brain injury in his childhood which has left him with ongoing issues with his balance along with physical and cognitive problems.
Our client lives a varied and interesting lifestyle, and his interests include keeping fit, watching films (for which he has an extensive collection of DVDs), socialising and spending time with friends and family. You will support our client to maintain his independence, both at home and in the community. Please note this role does not require support with personal care. Our client requires therapeutic support with social and leisure outings, and to maintain our client’s safety.
You will be working as part of a small team and although you will be on Zero hours contract our client can commit to honouring one or two shifts a week depending on your availability and his needs. This will include both weekdays, some evenings and weekends to suit our client’s needs.
Training will be provided for the right candidate, and regular supervisions will take place to support you.
What you will be working:
6-8 hours per week
Flexible Hours to be agreed with the client. A typical support visit may be:12:00pm – 18:00pm, 10:00am – 16:00pm or 18:00 – 23:00pm
Salary:
£15.00 per hour flat rate week/weekends
45p per mile for business use when escorting our client
What you will be doing:
Assist the client to exercise choice and control over their own lives as far as they are able in everyday matters but taking into consideration their cognitive problems
Liaise with and support the family as required
Supporting the client to use local amenities such as shops and leisure facilities and attend community events
Follow the service user plan as documented for the client
Maintain accurate and confidential records
Maintain professional boundaries with the client and their family members, adhering to direction from the case manager as appropriate
About you:
Essential
Friendly and approachable
Dependable and professional - you value honesty and discretion
Flexible and work well under pressure
Full, clean UK driving licence with access to a car and business use insurance
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS and enrol in the DBS update service
Preferred
Experience of supporting someone with a brain injury or cognitive impairment, ideally working one to one with clients in their own home
