Job Overview
The Acute Care Service is fully developed and includes a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), one male and one female inpatient ward, and Home Treatment Teams (HTT) for Gwynedd and Anglesey. Currently, acute services are clinically led by Responsible Clinicians (RCs) for each inpatient ward, PICU, and HTT. This post will cover the Hergest Male Inpatient ward, providing a substantive consultant-led acute care service for the two counties.
Main duties of the job
* Have direct clinical responsibility (RC) for all male inpatients (excluding functional OPMH patients) during their admission on the 17-bedded Cynan Ward, Hergest Unit.
* Manage clinical care for all male inpatients on Cynan Ward, including covering Mental Health Act roles as Responsible Clinician during their stay.
* Attend the daily Acute Care Meeting to discuss patient flow, discharges, and potential discharges (15-30 mins each morning).
* Manage complex cases collaboratively with HTT and community CMHTs.
* Provide clinical leadership within the Acute Care setting.
* Develop care plans and treatment formulations, guiding evidence-based treatment and assessing effectiveness.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable:
* Higher degree in medical education, research, or management.
* MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Welsh AC Approval.
Eligibility
* GMC registration with a license to practice at appointment.
* On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT completion.
* CCT or equivalent (confirmed by GMC by AAC date).
* Approved Clinician status or achievable within 3 months.
* Approved under S12 or achievable within 3 months.
Desirable Criteria
* Good standing with GMC regarding warnings or conditions.
Clinical Skills
* Training in core and specialist community psychiatry competencies.
Desirable:
* Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience in community psychiatric practice.
