Senior Quantity Surveyor
Reporting to: Senior Commercial Manager / Commercial Director
Responsible for: Managing the commercial performance of projects to achieve optimal recovery and cash flow, along with the effective and fair management of suppliers and sub-contractors.
Main role: To oversee the commercial delivery of all assigned projects and report financial results responsibly to meet business needs while developing client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. People:
* Client Management – maintain open communication with clients and assist the Divisional Business Manager with commercial issues.
* Manage client forecasts for costs to complete, considering project budgets and completion dates.
* Treat all clients fairly and reasonably.
* Understand the requirements of all project stakeholders, including statutory authorities and regulators.
* Assist clients in achieving their project aims while ensuring commercial viability.
* Show respect to employees, clients, stakeholders, and the public.
1. Planet:
* Promote the company's ethos and image.
* Ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
* Minimize environmental impact during works.
* Consider environmental impact and sustainability in procurement decisions.
* Manage waste in accordance with SWMP and Waste Management Licensing Regulations, maintaining proper records.
* Understand and enforce environmental security at projects and sites.
2. Profit:
* Produce budgets, costs to complete, and cash flow forecasts for real-time decision making.
* Manage assets efficiently.
* Understand contract programmes, critical paths, and key dates.
* Procure sub-contractors timely with competitive tenders.
* Assist site managers with procurement schedules.
* Ensure contracts are cash positive for the group.
* Recognize and notify of Compensation Events or Variations, pricing them accordingly.
* Maintain accurate commercial records, including Cost Value Reconciliation.
* Submit payment notices and manage payment cycles to ensure positive cash flow.
* Manage payment certificates and subcontractor notifications in line with legislation.
