Seasalt began in 1981 with a small shop in Penzance, selling workwear to local mariners and practical overalls to artists. Today, we’ve grown into a thriving omnichannel retailer with over 80 UK and Ireland stores, 400 wholesale stockists, and a growing international and online footprint. As a B Corp and winner of both Drapers “Best Place to Work” and CIPD’s “Best Recognition Programme”, we care deeply about our people, our communities and our long-term impact. Our Head Office teams provide the foundations that empower our people to drive sustainable growth across the UK and international markets. As Head of Commercial Finance, you’ll be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) processes, as well as the development and leadership of business partnering. In this role, you will lead the budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes, while driving commercial decision-making through strong business partnering and support. You’ll contribute to key projects, and provide insight and accounting across all sales channels and related marketing costs. This is a full-time, permanent role. While the preference for this role would be for the candidate to be Cornwall based, we would also welcome applications from the South West of the UK with occasional travel to our Head Offices in Cornwall – approximately once a month. Please note that this role will internally be known as ‘Senior Commercial Finance Manager’. You’ll help us by: Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports, including functional and channel P&Ls, ensuring correct sales cut-off and managing monthly marketing cost accruals. Effectively business partnering with key stakeholders, holding monthly meetings to ensure accuracy of actuals reporting, reviewing functional and channel P&Ls and creating a monthly rolling reforecast through previous assumptions. Driving the timetable and deliverables for the annual budget cycle and quarterly reforecasts, providing an analytical review ad challenge of requests and assumptions where required. Delivering timely monthly reporting deliverables such as KPIs, cash flow forecasting, covenant reviews, and contribution to the board pack. Building models based on operational requirements, including financial modelling and scenario planning, to increase insight and enable decision making. Conducting financial analysis, including investment appraisal, ROI, margin and cost analysis, as well as promotion and markdown forecasting to generate actionable, commercially relevant insights that optimise trading decisions. Retail staff headcount and cost analysis, reporting, and forecasting. Collaborating and aligning with the wider Finance team to collate timely deliverables across the P&L and balance sheet, and to maintain the long term cashflow and working capital forecasts. Driving corporate strategy with the Executive Team through workshops and actionable outputs, developing a 3–5 year business model and financial plan aligned with EBITDA targets and banking covenants. Driving profitability through supporting key projects, including business case preparation/support and developing and maintaining the long term cashflow model with reference to banking covenants and strategic/project aims. Leading direct reports through regular one-to-ones, performance management, and coaching, ensuring accountability and maximising team performance. Collaborating with wider teams, including Business Analytics to support data strategy, development of KPIs and non-financial reporting, and Procurement with respect to major contract tenders. The skills you’ll be sharing with the team: Fully qualified ACA, CIMA or ACCA (or equivalent). Finance business partnering experience that spans beyond budget management. A thorough understanding of budgeting, forecasting and detailed analysis and the ability to forecast cash flows. Ability to drive strategic decision making and influence. Experience creating and leveraging information and data to provide meaningful presentations and reports which can be used to support critical decision making.
