Supply Heroes are looking for a compassionate and experienced Pastoral Assistant to work at a fun, supportive, and highly respected mainstream primary school in Harborne, Birmingham. You will be responsible for providing support for the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of students and often acting as a mentor and role model. This role will be full-time and starting as soon as possible until the end of the academic year.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Offering individual support, assisting with behaviour management and special needs, and liaising with staff and parents.
* Providing advice and support for students' social, emotional, and physical needs
* Assisting teachers with the development and implementation of behaviour plans and setting appropriate boundaries for students
* Developing one-on-one mentoring relationships with students and supporting those who are distressed
* Supporting and coordinating pastoral initiatives, such as charity events and activities to promote well-being
* Keeping accurate records and using IT skills to update databases and reports
* Communicating with parents, guardians, and external agencies on behalf of the student's welfare
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Experience in a pastoral support or learning mentor role
* Experience of working with families and children
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A commitment to promoting positive and health outcomes for children and young people
* An emphatic and non-judgmental approach
