Working as a Claims Handler, you will support the team in providing an effective and efficient claims service to our customers. You will deal effectively with all claims allocated, ensuring adherence to company policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Objectives and Responsibilities
* Efficiently handle all claims allocated to you, managing a caseload from start to finish and liaising extensively with clients, insurers, claimants, policyholders, brokers, and other experts.
* Refer claims outside of your authority levels to your line manager.
* Gather and process information to support the assessment of complex cases.
* Assist in training new or inexperienced staff on company systems and processes.
* Maintain and develop your professional knowledge through ongoing training and record this in line with Training & Competency requirements.
* Conduct company business courteously and efficiently.
* Act on behalf of the insured and the insurer when required, adhering to all procedures and policies, especially regarding conflicts of interest and fair treatment of customers.
* Undertake any other tasks reasonably required by the company.
What we are looking for in a Claims Handler:
* Experience dealing with motor, liability, and property claims is preferable.
* Excellent customer care skills.
* Knowledge of general insurance principles and practices.
* Strong work ethic and time management skills to handle a large caseload efficiently.
* Knowledge of risk classes, products, and markets.
* Understanding of insurance regulation and business ethics.
* IT proficiency.
