Income Officer – Islington (Temporary, Full Time)
📍 Location: Islington
⏳ Contract: 3 months initially, with potential for extension
🕒 Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (35 hours per week)
💷 Pay: 21.61 per hour (LTD) £18.54 per hour (PAYE, inclusive of holiday pay)
Are you an experienced Income Officer looking for your next opportunity? We’re currently working on behalf of a respected Housing Association in Islington to recruit for a dedicated professional to manage a mixed-tenure patch of around 850 tenancies.
🔍 About the Role
This is a vital position aimed at helping residents maintain their tenancies while ensuring effective income recovery. You’ll be delivering a high-quality income management service across general needs, leasehold, and shared ownership properties.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage rent accounts, ensuring income targets are achieved
Carry out arrears recovery actions in line with policy, including home visits and legal proceedings
Support residents through welfare reform changes and help maximise their income
Conduct affordability assessments and arrange sustainable repayment plans
Attend court hearings and eviction proceedings when necessary
Signpost residents to internal support teams and external agencies
Work closely with colleagues and partners to deliver a joined-up service👤 About You
We’re looking for a housing professional with strong experience in rent collection and arrears management.
You’ll need:
A minimum of 12 months’ experience managing complex rent arrears cases
Knowledge of income recovery across general needs, leasehold, and shared ownership tenures
Familiarity with welfare benefits, legal processes including DIY possession and debt recovery
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
Confidence working independently as well as within a wider teamInterested?
