Job Description:
The operational excellence manager acts as a functional lead, subject matter expert, process & blueprint owner to successfully deploy operational excellence in the local operation. They are accountable for ensuring annual diagnostics are performed at the required level, highlighting opportunities across the site (delivery, maturity, competency), and ensuring the site has improvement plans in place with year-over-year progress and results.
This role provides technical support and guidance to site managers, helping them support their teams to deliver annual business plan savings and embed an operational excellence culture at the site.
The role is accountable for:
1. Standardizing approaches across the site and deploying operational excellence blueprints, processes, methods, and tools.
2. Delivering operational excellence leadership training to site leadership teams.
3. Performing diagnostics and assessments to identify improvement opportunities, aligned with the budget cycle.
4. Tracking benefits and leading the funding for growth (FFG) activities.
5. Leading and supporting complex cross-site improvement projects requiring cross-functional involvement.
6. Ensuring strong governance for improvement activities.
7. Implementing and maintaining the site SIM/business performance management process according to blueprint standards, covering handover, SIC, Daily, Weekly, Monthly reviews.
8. Deploying best practice operational excellence techniques (e.g., SIM, 5S, PSG, TPM) through design, coaching, and training to reduce waste and non-value-adding activities.
9. Aligning central CI programmes with local requirements.
10. Conducting operational excellence maturity assessments and developing improvement plans.
11. Performing process confirmations to foster a CI culture.
12. Establishing competency requirements, conducting training needs analysis, and developing a competency plan focused on management and leadership roles.
13. Training employees to required standards and ensuring effective competency assessments.
To succeed, candidates should have prior experience in OE within a manufacturing environment and be capable of working at both strategic and operational levels.
