Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent almost a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile and VR gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War; and we’re now excited to be exclusively working on a new game, unlike ANYTHING we’ve done previously!
As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers.
We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!
The Role:
Pixel Toys are now seeking an inspiring and experienced Lead Programmer to join our talented team and deliver one of the most entertaining, performant, and best looking mobile games on the market.
This rare opportunity will see you playing a pivotal role in shaping the technical vision of a top-tier mobile title; combining cutting-edge performance, world-class visuals, and addictive gameplay. We're currently at a critical and exciting phase of the project’s development, where you’ll have the chance to lead and grow a dedicated team of skilled programmers, pushing the limits of quality and performance on the latest mobile and tablet hardware.
You’ll work hand-in-hand with fellow Leads and Directors, helping to define and uphold industry-leading standards across all areas of game development. You will also be responsible for delivering clear technical plans, collaborating with Designers, Artists, and Producers in order to ensure the game hits its quality, performance, and user experience targets.
In this role you’ll be a mentor, a motivator, and a role model; driving technical excellence while championing a culture of growth, collaboration and continual improvement.
About you:
As our newly appointed Lead Programmer you will be a technically skilled developer as well as a passionate and effective leader, ready to guide and support a talented development team. You will have a strong background in game development, with a proven track record in similar roles, and the ability to lead small to mid-sized teams through complex and rewarding projects. Your experience will span both Client and Server-side technologies, giving you the versatility to handle a wide range of technical challenges.
With a great understanding of Unity and C#, you will join us with a solid understanding of modern coding practices, development standards, and workflows, equipping you to help the team deliver high-quality systems in an efficient manner. Your ability to rapidly prototype and iterate on features will allow the project to evolve quickly and effectively, keeping it on the cutting edge of mobile game development.
As a creative problem-solver, you will take a proactive approach to technical challenges and constantly look for ways to improve both process and product. Your experience with agile development will help you manage change and maintain momentum, while your excellent communication skills will ensure smooth collaboration with Designers, Artists, Producers, and fellow Programmers.
You will join us with a positive, adaptable attitude; with the ability to inspire confidence and set a great example. With your enthusiasm, leadership and commitment to quality, you will help deliver a game that not only looks and performs exceptionally but also offers an unforgettable player experience.
