Assistant Practitioner, Band 4 / Trainee, Band 3 (During training period, until all criteria are met)

Role Summary

Within Perth & Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership, we are expanding opportunities for Healthcare Support Workers to develop and progress into the role of an Assistant Practitioner. You will work within the four pillars of professional practice, work towards having your own case allocation and delivering high quality, person‑centred care. You must be able to communicate effectively, report directly to a Registered Nurse and your role will require you to supervise and support other healthcare practitioners and learners.


Key Responsibilities

* Work within the four pillars of professional practice and deliver person‑centred care.
* Communicate effectively, reporting directly to a Registered Nurse and supervising and supporting other practitioners and learners.
* Carry out delegated clinical tasks and procedures to a high standard, taking into consideration the specific needs of the target population.
* Support people to remain at home or in a homely setting, working across Nursing and Allied Health Professional services.


Qualifications & Experience

* Previous experience as a Healthcare Support Worker.
* Excellent verbal and non‑verbal communication skills and an energetic, flexible approach to work.
* Ability to work well within a team, in a high‑pressure environment and adapt to changing situations.
* Must achieve the mandatory induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and comply with the Code of Conduct throughout employment.


Hours of Work

Monday – Sunday, 0800 – 2000hrs; variety of shifts, including weekends.


Training & Development

Successful applicants will be supported to complete a Professional Development Award in Acute & Community Care at SCQF Level 8. The duration of the training period is approximately one year, commencing September 2026.
