Principal Electrical Hardware Engineer/PCB Designer | Chelmsford | Space Engineer A well-established engineering organisation is seeking a Principal Electrical Hardware Engineer/PCB Designer at team lead level to join their growing space technology division. This role is ideal for someone already leading a small team or an experienced engineer ready to step up. You’ll be working on advanced imaging systems, developing and testing electronics that power high-performance sensors. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop PCBs for high-speed space applications Create schematics, select components, and work with external layout engineers Define system architecture and interface documentation Prepare technical documents and lead design reviews Lead and carry out verification and testing of electronics Mentor junior engineers and ensure quality standards are upheld What We’re Looking For: Strong experience in PCB design and high-speed digital circuitry Proficient with PCB CAD tools (ideally CADENCE or ALTIUM) Ability to present complex electrical designs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences Solid understanding of electronics fundamentals and electrical interface design Experience in high-reliability standards (space/aerospace/defence experience a plus) Benefits: Competitive Salary dependent on experience Superb campus working environment 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays as standard – with the opportunity to purchase up to 5 days additional leave.
