Permanent Role With A Local Authority Job Purpose To deliver high-quality social work services within Children’s Social Care, focusing on child protection, safeguarding, and improving outcomes for children, young people, and their families. The role involves assessment, planning, intervention, and review in line with statutory responsibilities and best practice standards. Key Responsibilities Undertake statutory social work duties in accordance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004. Assess the needs, risks, and circumstances of children and families, ensuring timely and effective interventions. Develop, implement, and review care plans, child protection plans, and support strategies. Manage a caseload of children and families, ensuring all cases are progressed efficiently and within statutory timescales. Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, police, and voluntary organisations. Attend and contribute to case conferences, court proceedings, and professional meetings. Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and documentation in line with council policies. Ensure the voice of the child is central to all decision-making processes. Promote safeguarding and welfare of children at all times. Participate in regular supervision, training, and continuous professional development. Requirements Qualified Social Worker (Degree/Diploma in Social Work or equivalent). Registered with Social Work England. Significant post-qualification experience in children’s social care, particularly in child protection. Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships. Ability to manage a complex caseload and work under pressure. Commitment to continuous professional development. Experience working within a local authority setting. Knowledge of Signs of Safety practice model.
