Deputy Electrical Manager

The Deputy Electrical Manager plays a key supporting role within Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust's Estates and Facilities team, assisting in the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of electrical systems across the estate. Reporting to the Electrical Manager, the postholder will supervise day‑to‑day electrical maintenance activities, ensuring planned and reactive works are carried out to high standards and in accordance with statutory regulations, NHS HTM guidance, and Trust policies. This role requires a solid technical background in electrical systems, with responsibility for coordinating frontline maintenance teams, supporting Safe Systems of Work, and contributing to compliance monitoring. The Electrical Supervisor will assist in the delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules, ensuring timely task completion and accurate reporting through the CAFM system.
Main duties of the job
* Supervise the day‑to‑day activities of the electrical maintenance team, ensuring planned and reactive works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
* Support the implementation of compliance strategies for hard FM services, ensuring alignment with Trust objectives and adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Assist in the preparation for audits by maintaining accurate records, supporting quality assurance processes, and addressing non‑compliance issues under the guidance of the Electrical Manager.
* Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance staff, ensuring Safe Systems of Work are followed and that all activities comply with NHS HTM standards and Trust policies.
* Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders, contractors, and service users to ensure a responsive and customer‑focused service.
* Monitor and report on operational risks, escalating issues to the Electrical Manager and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure accurate and timely updates to the CAFM system, supporting compliance monitoring and performance reporting.

Job responsibilities
Participate in internal and external audits, providing evidence and support to ensure successful outcomes and closure of actions.

Support the development of team members by identifying training needs, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
Assist in monitoring resource usage and identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and reduction of work‑in‑progress (WIP).
Person Specification
Education
* City & Guilds 2365, 2357 Level 3 and NVQ 2356 AM2 City and Guilds 2330 Level 3 in Electrical Installation and NVQ 2356 and AM2 City and Guilds 236/2360 In Electrical Installations part 1&2 City & Guilds 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS:7671:2018) preferable with A2 amendment.
* City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Inspection & Testing 2391 or 2394/5
