Job Description
Due to internal movements and maternity cover, my client are looking for an experienced interim Assistant Accountant to support the Group Accounting function on an interim basis. You will work across two finance teams, providing broad transactional and month-end support during a busy period. This is a great opportunity for someone who is confident working across different areas of finance and able to hit the ground running with minimal hand-holding. You will support both the Group Accounting Manager and a second Finance Manager, flexing between teams depending on workload. Responsibilities include:
Transactional Finance:
* Raising and processing invoices
* Coding payments and handling general ledger entries
* Managing fixed asset postings and depreciation
* Supporting the debtor and creditor ledgers
Month end & reporting:
* Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
* Assisting with accruals & prepayments
* Supporting the preparation of internal reporting packs
* Providing ad-hoc support to the wider accounting team where needed
Other duties:
* Supporting ad-hoc tasks across two teams during busy cycles
* Contributing to a smooth month-end close
* Ensuring accuracy and consistency in all financial data
* Adapting to evolving team needs during internal transitions
Your profile:
* Broad exposure across transactional finance and basic month-end
* Comfortable working flexibly across multiple areas of finance
* AAT qualified
* Strong grounding in double-entry bookkeeping
* Strong Excel competency( Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS)
* Confident with general bookkeeping systems and processes
* Comfortable completing Excel and accounting assessments as part of the interview process
