We are currently seeking an experienced Senior SHEQ Advisor to join a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation operating within the UK water sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive SHEQ professional to play a key role in driving health, safety, environmental and quality excellence across major infrastructure projects. Working closely with project teams and senior stakeholders, you will help embed a positive SHEQ culture, support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with industry standards and legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide senior-level SHEQ support and guidance across multiple projects and operational teams.
* Promote best practice in the management of SHEQ risks and support the delivery of industry-leading performance.
* Assist in the development, implementation and continual improvement of SHEQ policies, procedures, management systems and risk controls.
* Plan, coordinate and support internal SHEQ assurance audits.
* Conduct accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
* Work closely with project teams to understand operational challenges and deliver practical SHEQ solutions.
* Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to promote a positive and proactive SHEQ culture.
* Support all stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring SHEQ considerations are embedded throughout delivery.
* Identify opportunities for sustainable and innovative solutions.
* Analyse SHEQ performance data, identify trends and produce meaningful reports.
* Support the maintenance and continual improvement of externally certified management systems.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Proven experience working within a SHEQ function, ideally within engineering, construction, utilities or infrastructure environments.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, evaluate and interpret large volumes of data while maintaining data integrity.
* Ability to identify trends and present findings clearly to stakeholders.
* Sound knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulations and Approved Codes of Practice.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels of an organisation.
* Ability to make informed decisions and recognise when escalation is required.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
