Job Description

Hire Manager

* Location: Morden, SM4
* Job Type: Full-time
* Salary: Competitive

We are seeking a Hire Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our plant hire desk at our Morden depot. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient coordination of equipment hire, delivering excellent customer service, and maximising the utilisation of company assets. The Hire Manager will manage client relationships and ensure smooth logistical operations.

Day-to-day of the role:

* Operations Management:
o Oversee the daily hiring and off-hiring of various plant machinery types and sizes.
o Coordinate plant and equipment availability, scheduling, and dispatch.
o Ensure all hires are processed accurately, including contracts, delivery notes, and returns.
o Monitor equipment utilisation to maximise efficiency and revenue.
* Customer Service & Sales:
o Act as the main point of contact for customer enquiries and bookings.
o Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients.
o Provide expert advice on suitable plant and equipment for customer needs.
o Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
* Logistics & Coordination:
o Plan and coordinate deliveries and collections with drivers.
o Liaise with the Service Manager to ensure equipment is hire-ready.
o Work with the Service Manager to ensure efficient turnaround of returned equipment.
* Compliance & Safety:
o Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations.
o Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections and certifications.
o Help maintain and promote a strong safety culture.
* Financial & Administrative Duties:
o Monitor hire rates, invoicing, and profitability.
o Assist in budgeting and cost control.
o Ensure all documentation and systems are up to date.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

* Proven experience in plant hire, tool hire, or construction equipment industry.
* Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Leadership or supervisory experience.
* Good knowledge of plant machinery and hire processes.
* IT proficiency (hire software systems, Microsoft Office).
* Understanding of health and safety regulations.
