The main purpose of the role We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and interested individual to work as part of the Speech and Language Therapy team, and wider multi-disciplinary team based at Aurora Foxes. You will be working under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to complete clinical and administrative support roles. This will include working directly with individual students or groups to deliver therapy programmes, supporting SaLTs in assessment of communication skills, reporting on students’ progress, providing support with resources for individuals and contributing to the development of the speech and language therapy service. Key duties Support in the efficient running of a Speech and Language Therapy Service to ensure that students’ needs are met effectively. Manage Speech and Language Therapy resources on a day to day basis. Ensure compliance with Aurora policies, regulations and protocols. Flexibly adapt both your approach and communication style in order to deliver therapy intervention which is functional and client centred. Carry out specific observations and record keeping to contribute to ongoing assessment when requested by SaLT. To feed back to the SaLT at defined intervals, and also when appropriate to seek timely advice and support. Maintain up to date and accurate case notes in line with RCSLT professional standards and local trust policies under the supervision of a qualified SaLT. Attend external training and qualify as an Aurora Foxes Elklan lead. Deliver Elklan training and monitor effectiveness in line with Elklan training guidelines and requirements to meet the ‘Elklan Communication Friendly Setting’ award. Previous experience of working with children or young adults with a range of learning needs. Experience and understanding of working in team settings, liaising with colleagues and other agencies.
