The Practice Facilitator within the Nursing & Patient Experience team operates as an autonomous service designed primarily to pan trust learners. The purpose of this post is to support learning and education in Undergraduate Nursing.
You will facilitate through education all pre registered nurses in the Trust, working alongside our clinical education teams, ward managers, assessors and supervisors and our external partners.
We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated registered nurse to work in the field of clinical education. You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of clinical settings, network across 11 higher education institutes, and support the future nursing workforce by increasing placement areas. You will be supported in a passionate and friendly team of nurse educators, and actively encouraged to further your development in the role.
The successful candidate will have proven clinical experience as an experienced Band 5 or 6 and significant experience of working with and developing student nurses.
Main duties of the job
· Promote high standards of care through role modelling the demonstration of clinical expertise, leadership, and professionalism
· To assist in the design, delivery, and evaluation of the NPE Curriculum
· To deliver Practice Assessor updates across the Trust
· To be a highly visible clinical role model; facilitating effective learning and teaching skills at ward level to undergraduate nurses within the divisions of responsibility
· To provide cross cover for peers and undertake delegated responsibility from the Practice Educators in Nursing and Patient Experience
· To support assessors and supervisors in practice helping undergraduate nurses to meet their objectives and action plans. Ensure that effective supervision and assessment is in place for all undergraduate nurses.
· Support inductions and NPE curriculum for all undergraduate nurses when colleagues are absent or engaged with other urgent matters.
· To monitor and action any urgent request that occur through the allocated inboxes
· Attend external partner meetings with Higher Education Institutes in the absence of the Practice Educator
· To offer structured educational support for Practice Assessor and Supervisors in the clinical setting when requested.
· To demonstrate strategies that will assist in the integration of learning both in the practical and educational setting
· To develop effective working relationships with ward managers and practice educators, and other members of the MDT, including higher education institutes, to ensure effective communication and support of healthcare support workers in practice through visible clinical leadership.
· Work alongside the Practice Educator to support and onboard new placement areas through networking and collaborating with student links and ward managers
· To carry out administrative duties required on GOLD LMS
· To encourage uptake of placement evaluations and pulse survey
· To contribute to an environment in which best practice is actively fostered, implemented, evaluated and shared.
· Participate in events or publications that promote the trust and undergraduate service such as recruitment events if capacity allows
· To work with the practice educators in the roll out of practice development initiatives across the trust
· To participate in formal/informal teaching/training on other courses/educational programmes as indicated and agreed with the practice educator
· To actively promote research awareness and evidence based care
· To contribute to reporting on key performance indicators and other activity for NHS England
· Work within the clinical education team to deliver the learning and development requirements of the GOSH and GLA strategy; ConnectEd and support clinical staff to be responsive to ongoing issues arising in relation to patient safety, clinical effectiveness and patient experience
