About the role

The Present-Day Ecosystems project, based along the Gascoyne coastline, is a multi-year project to understand marine biodiversity in the Gulf. This position will assist the Project Coordinator in the collation of metadata from existing and new specimens primarily housed at the WA Museum. The role will also include specimen preparation, field work planning and logistics, and supervising Volunteers recruited to the project.

About you

We are looking for a focussed and self-motivated individual with attention to detail, who wants to contribute to Biodiversity research together with a vibrant team.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

1. Organise and co-ordinate the logistics of registering unregistered material in the Natural Science Collection, particularly as it relates to aquatic ecosystems of the Gascoyne coastline.
2. Work with the Project Co-ordinator (Marine Biodiversity) and Aquatic Zoology Curators in determining priority specimens to be registered.
3. Provide on-the-job training, and supervise the day-to-day registration and data entry undertaken by Volunteers assigned to the project.
