This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic Senior Nurse with extensive experience, to play a key role in developing the Endoscopy and Gastroenterology Services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest and most research and training active specialist departments in the UK.
The Trust provides state-of-the-art endoscopy suites (based on two sites). Sheffield Teaching Hospital is also one of the original regional endoscopic training centres and is lead unit for the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw bowel cancer screening programme.
About Us
Gastroenterology and hepatology (G&H) provides both inpatient and outpatient elective and non-elective care for a wide range of G&H related illnesses.
The in-patient areas include general wards as well as a Clinical Investigation Unit with 17 beds and six Ambulatory chairs. Our specialist G&H nursing teams, including Clinical Nurse Specialists work across the inpatient, outpatient and community services providing an extensive specialist nursing network to patients with a wide range of complex G&H conditions.
Main duties of the job
· Set and maintain the highest standard of clinical care by providing leadership to staff within the Endoscopy Unit & the Clinical Investigation Unit, along with a number of Specialist Nurses. Ensure that standards are monitored and maintained and where necessary appropriate corrective action is taken.
· In conjunction with the Service Manager, ensure that administration and support services are designed and delivered to achieve the highest standards of care.
· Provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in the departments to whom patients and their families can turn for assistance advice and support.
· The post holder will have nursing responsibility for leading, developing, implementing and evaluating innovative and efficient models of care management with regards to Gastroenterology within the organisation and beyond, in conjunction with the Nurse Director, Clinical Lead, Service Manager and Operations Director.
· Implement innovative practice and service delivery solutions to ensure that service delivery is convenient and accessible, in line with the Government's agenda.
· Ensure that the Endoscopy Units are compliant with all JAG standards
· Set and monitor standards to evaluate service improvements.
· Ensure that up to date standard operating procedures are in place
· Participate in the hospitals Duty Matron rota.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Registered Nurse
2. Recognised management/leadership qualification
3. To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
4. 1st degree or equivalent or currently working towards
Experience

5. Experience of managing staff and HR issues
6. Experience at middle management level
7. Experience of managing multi-disciplinary workforce
Desirable criteria
8. Extensive experience as a senior nurse, including experience managing Endoscopy Units/Services or relevant Surgical/Theatre services or similar.
Skills and Knowledge
