The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager, initially based at the Manchester Head Office, to lead and uphold health, safety, and welfare standards across a portfolio of residential, commercial, and leisure projects. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and industry standards. You will also liaise with senior management to report on performance, manage documentation, and support projects in operating safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all health and safety requirements.

Health & Safety Related Qualification and/or MembershipExperience:
Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working in a similar position for a leading contractor or subcontractor
Proven track record of working in a Health & Safety position on projects across various sectors with values up to £20mKey Skills:

Implement proactive strategies to manage hazards and reduce potential risks
Report on health and safety performance to senior management on an ongoing basis
Provide regular updates and maintain clear communication with the Managing Director
Create and deliver tailored health and safety training programs to suit all employee roles
Maintain thorough, up-to-date knowledge of health and safety laws and compliance standards
Keep comprehensive documentation of incidents, safety inspections, and regulatory compliance
Conduct health and safety training to ensure staff awareness of procedures and legal obligations
Oversee budgeting for health and safety initiatives to optimise resource allocation and control costs
Carry out internal audits to assess alignment of workplace practices with health and safety standards
Implement and manage routine inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
Regularly evaluate and update risk assessments and control measures to ensure they remain effective
Coordinate the sharing of essential health and safety updates to ensure understanding and adherence
Oversee the successful implementation of policies and ensure they are embedded into daily operations
Design and execute comprehensive emergency response plans, encompassing evacuation procedures, First Aid protocols, and routine drills
Establish robust health and safety policies that align with legal obligations and are tailored to the organisation's particular needs
Consistently evaluating and updating health and safety programs to address emerging risks and enhance workplace safety
Undertake comprehensive risk assessments to anticipate potential hazards, ensuring preventive actions are in place to protect staff and operations
