Key Purpose Of Role
Servicing, fault finding, replacing, and repairing fire alarm systems, including emergency lighting, in accordance with current standards. Working with access control, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, intercom systems, and some Nurse Call systems. Ability to think on your feet and a passion for resolving issues confidently on-site.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Investigate and fault find on Fire Detection, Alarm, and Emergency Lighting systems. Knowledge of Nurse Call and Staff Attack systems, including Intercall, C-Tec (Quantec), SAS. Familiarity with Access Control and intercom systems, such as Paxton, RGL, Fermax, Videx. CCTV and Intruder knowledge is advantageous.
2. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all fire systems.
3. Participate in an On-Call Rota for Out-Of-Hours callouts and telephone support.
4. Repair both conventional and analogue addressable fire alarm systems to a high standard.
5. Understand and comply with relevant regulations (e.g., BS5839-1, BS5266-1) and industry standards, seeking specialist support when necessary.
6. Understand client needs and ensure all job requirements are fulfilled, cooperating fully with site conditions.
Essential Requirements For The Job
1. Excellent first-time resolution and risk management skills.
2. Strong communication skills.
3. Proven experience in the fire industry, including service and repair work.
4. Experience with conventional and addressable fire systems from various manufacturers.
5. Good installation practices in accordance with BS7671 where required.
6. Experience with Nurse Call Systems of all types.
7. Knowledge of integration of detection systems into other disciplines is a plus.
8. Full understanding of BS5839 and BS5266-1 standards.
9. Resourcefulness and a dynamic approach to problem-solving.
10. Valid driving license.
11. FIA Modules or equivalent industry-standard competency certification.
Desirable Requirements For The Job
1. Knowledge of advanced systems such as Kentec, C-Tec, Apollo, Hochiki, Fire Alarm systems.
2. Experience with Gent by Honeywell, VESDA, and other aspirating systems.
3. Experience with access control systems.
4. Background in electrical or electronic systems.
5. ICEL accreditation for emergency lighting.
6. Broad fire product knowledge.
