This role supports the Commercial Assurance and Framework Management Team, overseeing commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, maximizing returns and demonstrating value for money.
You will help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice, develop long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements, and support our Integrated Delivery Management teams nationwide.
Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises; an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency.
Responsibilities
 * Support the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
 * Help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements.
 * Champion effective governance and commercial assurance across the country.
 * Develop excellent relationships internally and externally, becoming an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations.
 * Fulfil incident response duties as required, including training participation.
Qualifications
 * A‑Level or equivalent (Level 3 Qualifications or equivalent).
 * Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
 * Stakeholder management experience.
 * Strong data and document management skills.
 * Commercial acumen – ability to understand and analyse business situations, take proportionate risks and deliver advantageous solutions.
 * Administration skills – organisation, minutes and report drafting.
 * Willingness to undertake professional qualifications (e.g., NEC, CIPS) and ask questions to drive development.
 * Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Education / Professional Requirements
 * Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
 * Working towards status with a recognised professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, or RICS.
 * Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).

Additional Information
The role can be fulfilled via hybrid working and may require some travel with occasional overnight stays.
