The Indirect Tax Compliance Analyst will be a key member of a multi-company, multi-jurisdiction compliance team. The role is primarily focused on the accurate and timely creation of statutory returns, including Intrastat, EC Sales List, VAT Returns, and similar filings across several EMEA and ASPAC countries.
The successful candidate will support the compliance team in ensuring all reporting requirements are met across various jurisdictions, working as part of a team, with lots of contact with internal and occasionally external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include gathering and validating data, preparing returns, maintaining audit trails, and assisting with queries relating to indirect tax compliance. The position may also involve participating in process improvement projects and supporting the implementation of new compliance tools or systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation and submission of Intrastat, EC Sales List, VAT Returns, and other indirect tax filings for multiple companies in various jurisdictions.
* Gathering, validating, and managing data required for compliance purposes.
* Maintaining accurate records and audit trails for all tax returns.
* Responding to queries from tax authorities, internal and external stakeholders.
* Supporting process improvements and assisting with the implementation of new compliance tools.
Person Specification
* Education & Experience: Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent, with experience in tax, finance, or a related administrative role.
* Technical Skills: Strong understanding of data management and manipulation, with proficiency in Excel and other relevant software (required). Familiarity with indirect tax compliance, particularly Intrastat, EC Sales List, and VAT Returns (preferred). Exposure to SAP S/4 a distinct benefit.
* Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in handling data and preparing statutory returns.
* Communication: Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaison effectively with colleagues from different functions and vendor contacts.
* Organisation: Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities across different responsibilities, both on their own and as part of a collaborative team.
* Problem-Solving: Capable of identifying and resolving issues in data or processes, contributing to ongoing improvements.
* Extra Skills (Preferred): Advanced data manipulation skills (particularly in Excel), experience with compliance software, SAP S/4, and familiarity with automation tools or business intelligence systems.
Core Hours: Work between 7am – 7pm (core between 10am and 3pm)
Hybrid Working: One day per week working from home (after probation)
Holidays: 25 per year plus bank holidays
