Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable gardener to join our team to oversee the maintenance and development of our gardens at 2 local hospitals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of horticulture, landscape maintenance, and groundskeeping practices. This role requires hands-on experience with both power and hand tools. The skilled gardener will play a crucial role in ensuring that our green spaces are thriving and aesthetically pleasing all year round.
Responsibilities (Growing Season)
* Ensuring all areas are well-maintained and healthy.
* Plan and implement planting schedules for various plants, flowers, and shrubs to optimise growth.
* Manage irrigation to ensure efficient water usage and promote healthy plant growth.
* Perform regular maintenance tasks including weeding, pruning, mulching, and fertilising.
* Utilise power tools and hand tools for various gardening tasks while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
* Monitor plant health and identify any issues related to pests or diseases, implementing appropriate solutions.
* Collaborate with team members to improve existing landscapes.
* Maintain accurate records of plant care activities, inventory, and equipment usage.
Responsibilities (Winter Period)
* Maintaining all the above to a high standard.
* Applying rock salt to all hard standing and open areas when necessary, thought the nights, early mornings and weekends.
* Helping the NHS Hospital facilities teams with furniture moving and any takes that they require.
Requirements
* Able to work as a team with a positive attitude.
* Proven experience in gardening or landscape maintenance is essential.
* Strong knowledge of plant care, including growing conditions and pest management.
* Proficiency in using both power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining garden aesthetics.
* Strong physical stamina to perform manual labour tasks over extended periods.
* A passion for gardening and a commitment to creating beautiful outdoor spaces.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent. Monday - Friday 6am – 3pm Saturday 6am – 12 noon
Pay: From £34,500.00 per year
