Staff Nurse Cockermouth Community Hospital – 36 hours available.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the friendly and enthusiastic nursing team at Cockermouth Isel Ward based in the heart of the Lake District. The ward currently supports 11 patients with various health conditions to reach their baseline and optimal level and return to their chosen environment.
We are looking for Band 5 Staff Nurses to deliver high quality, holistic care as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
The successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic about delivering holistic care and developing their knowledge and skills in discharge processes and supporting patients through education and lifestyle choices.
As a community ward we provide step‑up patients from the community and step‑down patients from the acute sector, support many patients with palliative conditions and chronic decline. The role requires working under pressure with accuracy, effective communication and collaboration.
Main duties of the job
The post requires a candidate passionate about holistic care to enable them to support patients and families for end‑of‑life care and safe discharges. The role involves clinical skills including male and female catheterisation, venepuncture, cannulation, administration of IV medication, ECG, wound care, etc.
Candidates must demonstrate and give examples of their experience related to the essential criteria outlined. Training will be provided if required.
The hours offered are on a rotation – 12‑hour shifts including weekends, bank holidays and nights, subject to change for service need.

Qualifications
* Level 1 registered nursing qualifications
* Post‑registration qualification in teaching/assessing (ENB 998/NST 307)

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required. The cost of the DBS will be met by the successful candidate through salary deduction.
* Standard Check: £21.50 + £6.50 administration = £28.00 (deducted over 4 months or one‑off)
* Enhanced Check: £49.50 + £6.50 administration = £56.00 (deducted over 4 months or one‑off)
Salary and Contract
£32,073 to £39,043 a year (pro‑rata). Permanent part‑time, 36‑hour contract.
Working Pattern
