We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading renewable energy company, supporting operations on a large industrial site near Needham Market.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking to move into a more complex, site-based plant environment within the growing renewable energy sector.
The RoleAs a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operation and performance of industrial biomass boiler systems supplying heat to a major manufacturing facility.
This is a hands-on role suited to a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with experience in plant, steam, or heavy industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on industrial boiler systems
Maintain and repair mechanical components including pumps, valves, pipework, steam and hydraulic systems
Monitor plant performance and input operational data into control systems
Respond to breakdowns and participate in an on-call rota
Support fuel handling and site operations
Ensure all maintenance, inspection and compliance records are accurately completed
Work closely with site teams and subcontractors to maintain plant performance Requirements
Qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (NVQ Level 3 / C&G / HNC or equivalent)
Background in industrial environments such as manufacturing, energy, facilities, or process plant
Experience working with boilers, steam systems or heavy mechanical plant
Willingness to work on-call as part of a rota Desirable
Experience with SCADA or PLC systems
Biomass or industrial boiler experience
BOAS qualification
Experience in 24/7 operational environments Package & Benefits
Salary: £43,000 – £46,000
On-call allowance: £165 per week (£2,800 annually)
Overtime rates:
1.5x (Saturday)
2x (Sunday)
Minimum 4 hours paid per call-out
Permanent role with a growing renewable energy company Working Pattern
Week 1: Monday–Sunday (on-call week)
Week 2: Wednesday–Friday
