What will my accountabilities be?
1. Technical leadership of your supply base categories, taking a risk assessment approach.
2. Develop ‘best in class’ collaborative supplier relationships to ensure ‘supplier self-managed excellence’ approach.
3. Leading regular supplier reviews that include performance assessment and target setting.
4. Supplier onboarding and factory approvals.
5. Regular supplier visits to ensure suppliers are aligning to our global and local standards.
6. Using key metrics & data analysis to identify trends and work in a risk-based approach.
7. Complaint monitoring, trending, and crisis management.
8. Liaise with the Global Quality Systems team on specific supplier accounts, for core suppliers.
9. Help develop key departmental systems and processes to drive change.
10. Identification and leadership of cross functional projects to support the delivery of business objectives.
11. Contribute technical expertise to supplier commercial and category strategy.
12. Support with design and delivery of new product innovation throughout our stage & gate process.
13. Effectively managing internal stakeholders, being an ambassador and expert for your area.
14. Working as part of the on-call rota to cover weekends and holidays.
What Team will I be a part?
The Quality Assurance Technical Manager (QA Consultant) will work within the Quality Assurance, Nutrition and Food Safety team, which sits within the Supply Chain team at McDonald’s. This role will report into the Quality Assurance Manager.
Who are my stakeholders?
This role will work across internal stakeholders including Sourcing, Digital, Logistics, Sustainability, Agriculture, Strategy, Food Safety, Operations, Food Development, Customer Services, Training, Communications, Marketing, Legal, McDonald’s Global Supply Chain and Executive level McDonald’s management.
Along with external stakeholders such as Suppliers, Centres of Excellence, Local enforcement bodies - Trading Standards, EHO’s and NGO’s - non government organisations (lobbying groups, Greenpeace etc).
Qualifications:
15. Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Food Technology or a related industry experience in food retail, manufacturing, or hospitality.
16. Strong technical understanding of food products, their manufacture and distribution.
17. Demonstrate experience of working across multiple food categories.
18. Experience in high-risk food environments (meat or dairy experience would be advantageous).
19. Hold a minimum of level 3 HACCP and lead auditor training.
20. Passion for product, quality, and attention to detail.
21. A good commercial acumen and numeracy skills.
22. Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
23. Proficient computer use (including Microsoft PowerPoint, Office and Excel).
24. Excellent data analysis and presentation skills. Capable of analysing commercial metrics & insights to provide data led decisions.
25. Experience with the use of quality and product specification systems.
26. Be able to work alone and collaboratively as a part of a team.
27. Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
28. A positive demeanor with strong focus on culture of continuous improvement.
29. A curious mindset, confident, independent and a logical problem solver.
30. Must have a valid driver’s license, ability to maintain a valid and current passport and could domestically and internationally travel, depending on business needs.
