Now CERAP UK is looking for a Fire Engineer to join our expanding team in Bristol. If you are seeking an exciting opportunity to work on the UK's first-generation Nuclear Power Plants, this role is ideal for you!

Description:

Activities to be carried out as part of the service:

The service conducts internal studies on all Nuclear Island buildings to ensure safety functions are maintained during a fire and that UK safety standards are met.

The team collaborates with Building Leaders, safety teams, system engineers, civil engineers, and plant layout engineers.

Identification of risks:

* Using 3D models, calculation methodologies, and fire requirements, the Fire Engineer:
* Analyzes the 3D model to identify combustible materials in each area.
* Performs temperature change calculations over time for simulated fires using MAGIC software.
* Studies potential damage to systems, considering functional redundancy.
* Monitors and updates models with changes from engineering teams.
* Conducts regulatory assessments for fire safety.
* Recommends fire protection solutions to prevent or reduce fire outbreaks.
* Divides buildings into zones for fire protection.
* Recommends detection and firefighting methods for rapid response.
* Performs fire protection calculations with specific software.
* Supports systems and contract teams in implementing fire requirements.
* Provides justifications for departures from BS9999 standards.

Requirements:

* Degree-qualified engineer in safety or fire protection technologies, with knowledge of ETCF.
* Experience with UK Fire Regulations, including BS9999.
* Proficiency in fire protection calculations and tools.
* Ability to propose fire detection and protection solutions.
* Conscientious, enthusiastic, with good interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
