Community Podiatrist

Wehave an exciting opportunity to recruit to a band 5 community Podiatry positionwithin our established Podiatry Service. The postholder will:
Be responsible for theassessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of podiatriccare to patients with a variety of medical and podiatric problems.
Deliver specific foot careeducation and advice to patients, relatives and carers.
Carry out nail surgeryprocedures.
Carry out baselinebiomechanical assessments.
Manufacture and fit chair sideappliances e.g. insoles and silicone devices.
Follow departmental and Trust policies.To assist in the development and implementation of procedures andguidelines. To follow clinicalguidelines but have the discretion to make own clinical diagnosis and decisionswithin professional boundaries where appropriate
Main duties of the job

To maintain Registration withHealth Professional Council (HPC)
To work with the HPC Code ofConduct, Trust policies and procedures, and adhere to the Patients Charter.
Actively participate inContinuing Professional Development (CPD) to develop new skills and maintainand update existing skills.
To participate in IndividualPerformance Reviews with the Podiatry Manager.
To rotate into specialistareas within the department e.g. biomechanics clinics, working undersupervision.
To provide and ensureunderstanding of appropriate health education and clinical information topatients and carers.
To maintain accurate treatmentrecords of all patient consultations and related work carried out at eachclinical session.
To participate in audit, datacollection, analysis of data and development of outcomes.
To keep updated with relevantevidence-based research.
To participate in theDepartments Clinical Governance initiatives, the development of local policiesand implementation of local and national guidelines.

Job responsibilities
Job Purpose:
To work incommunity clinics providing podiatry care to a variety of clients
To provide ahigh standard of podiatric care
To assess,diagnose, develop and implement individual podiatric care treatment plans forpatients who are predominantly high risk. To organise and manage their ownindividual clinical caseload.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical
To be responsible for the assessment,diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of podiatric care topatients with a variety of medical and podiatric problems.
To deliverspecific foot care education and advice to patients, relatives and carers.
To refer on toother health care professionals when appropriate through agreed pathways, e.g.referrals to podiatry assistant, hospital diabetes foot clinic, biomechanicsservice.
To carry outnail surgery procedures.
To have thecapability to perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation including the drawing upand administration of adrenalin for anaphylactic shock, if required.
To carry outbaseline biomechanical assessments.
To manufactureand fit chair side appliances e.g. insoles and silicone devices.
To followdepartmental and Trust policies. Toassist in the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines. To follow clinical guidelines but have thediscretion to make own clinical diagnosis and decisions within professionalboundaries where appropriate.
To beresponsible for the maintenance, rotation and ordering of clinical stock.
To carry outclerical duties when necessary.

To liaiseeffectively with colleagues, other Health Care Professionals and patients, inorder to optimise patient care and promote the reputation of thedepartment. This may involve:requesting, receiving and sharing diagnostic tests and results, clinicalreports/letters, clinical arrangements, onward referral and professionaladvice.
To maintainaccurate treatment records (paper and/or electronic) of all patientconsultations and related work carried out at each clinical session.
Providestatistical information as required, e.g. Contact figures/DNA rates.
To attend andactively contribute to departmental meetings.
To ensure thatall information relating to clients and staff gained through employment is keptconfidential.
Researchand Development/Audit
To participatein audit, data collection, analysis of data and development of outcomes.
To keepupdated with relevant evidence-based research.
To participatein the Departments Clinical Governance initiatives, the development of localpolicies and implementation of local and national guidelines.

Qualifications
* Registration with Health Professions Council.
* Podiatry Diploma/Degree.
* Evidence of CPD portfolio.
* Evidence of reflective practice.
* Interest in Health Education
Job Specific Requirements
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Be able to produce detailed, accurate records which are legible; implement and evaluate treatment plans
Relationships
* If you are related to a director, or have a relationship with a director or employee of an appointing organisation, please state the relationship.
Experience
* Possess good verbal and written communication skills, Ability to perform CPR
