Rheumatology part-time, job share, CNS Band 7
Specialist Rheumatology Service

An opportunity has arisen in the Rheumatology team for a part-time, job share band 7 Clinical Nurse
Specialist on a permanent basis. The post is based at GOSH within the Rheumatoology service, which
falls in the Blood, Cells and Cancer Directorate.
Rheumatology covers numerous multi-system diseases that are caused by chronic and acute
inflammatory conditions that require a great deal of specialist input. A world-renowned clinical team,
who are experts in this field, are responsible for delivering services, diagnostics and assessments to
affected patients.
The successful candidate will:
• Have relevant clinical experience at band 6 or 7 level in an acute or community environment
• Be flexible and reliable
• Have a passion for learning new skills and taking on daily challenges
Whilst it is acknowledged that applicants may not have specific knowledge or experience within
Rheumatology, candidates should be aware that if successful further training and CPD may be
required to ascertain the skills that are necessary for this role and be willing to undertake additional
study to achieve the level of competence that is required.
Main duties of the job
We are a tertiary service within the UK NHS that care for children with Rheumatological disorders.
Most of the children and young people we care for are referred to us from other hospitals throughout
the UK because of the highly complex or rare nature of their condition.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

* Relevant up to date registration with professional body (NMC)
* Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development

* Possession of a relevant degree or in the process of obtaining
* Basic Life Support

* Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake
Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Sufficient experience at Band 6 level or equivalent, including within relevant clinical environment
* Experience of leading and managing a team
* Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints
* Willingness to gain excellent specialty knowledge
* Relevant clinical experience in an acute or community setting
* Understanding of professional and current issues in children’s nursing
* Child protection procedures (safeguarding)
* Awareness of equality and diversity
* Understanding of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk and quality issues
Desirable criteria
* Previous experience of research, audit and benchmarking
* Previous experience of change management and problem solving
