The Role
1. Manages staff within the Molecular/Infectious Disease Serology services including personal development, CPD, discipline and equipment selection on behalf of the lead Biomedical Scientist.
2. Responsible for service and maintenance of all automated analysers for the Molecular/Infectious Disease Serology service in Lanarkshire.
3. Responsible for the budget for reagents and supplies for the Molecular/Infectious Disease Serology services.
4. Responsible for the delivery of NHS Lanarkshire policy for the Molecular/Infectious Disease Serology services in conjunction with the Lead Consultant Microbiology and Biomedical Scientist Lead for Microbiology.
5. Responsible for delivery of training and development for all grades of Biomedical Scientist and support staff within Molecular/Infectious Disease Serology.
6. Responsible for service delivery of Molecular/Infectious Disease Serology laboratory services across the three acute hospitals of NHS Lanarkshire on behalf of the Lead Biomedical Scientist.

What we'll need you to bring
7. Registration with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) is mandatory.
8. MSc in Biomedical Science and or Higher Specialist in Molecular/Infectious Disease Serology
9. Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
10. Management experience and knowledge appropriate to the post is required.
11. Evidence of continuing professional development to a highly developed, specialist level including clinical & scientific skills and service development.
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
12. FIBMS by Fellowship examination or MSc in Biomedical Science
13. or Higher Specialist Examination
14. Band 7 experience.
15. Higher specialist knowledge of the theoretical and practical procedures of quality management and leadership.
16. Experience and knowledge of UKAS/MHRA/HFEA
17. In depth scientific knowledge of a discipline of clinical laboratory medicine.
18. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
19. Proven ability to train and mentor other members of staff.
20. Excellent presentation skills
21. Experienced in managing budgets
22. Experience in delivering change

This role will be based in Microbiology within University Hospital Wishaw.
