St Catherine’s College is seeking to appoint a Study Skills Advisor for an initial period of four years, working with the Academic Office team and with Tutorial Fellows and College Lecturers, supporting the delivery of teaching. The post is designed to support academic skills development and inclusive learning provision for the College’s students, as well as the College’s access and outreach programmes.
The postholder will have close contact with College Officers, and staff members with responsibility for student wellbeing, including the College Counsellor and Student Welfare Advisor.
The core responsibilities of the role will include the design and delivery of study skills training for students at all levels, and the promotion of a more inclusive learning and teaching environment in the College.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working to support the academic development of students, in the design and delivery of training programmes, as well as relevant expertise in teaching and learning pedagogy. They will also have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
Working hours are 28 (0.8 FTE) or 35 hours (1.0 FTE) per week during term time. The College would consider a more flexible, part-time arrangement during vacation time.
The annual salary is within the range £35,681–£41,636 (pro rata).
The Study Skills Advisor will be a member of the College’s teaching staff, with the status of a Lecturer, and will be a member of the Senior Common Room, with associated dining entitlements. Other benefits include parking on site, free use of the College gym and season ticket loans for travel.
