Corporate Financial and Planning Manager
NHSBT is a Special Health Authority in England and Wales, responsible for organ donation and transplantation across the United Kingdom. Our core purpose is to save and improve patients’ lives through the provision of a safe and reliable supply of blood components, solid organs, stem cells, tissues and related diagnostic services to the NHS and other UK Health Services.
The delivery of our organisational goals depends on a highly professional and committed team working cross‑functionally. The Financial Systems and Support Team plays a key role, providing cost centre and budget manager support to all budget holders and key decision‑makers in NHSBT. In this role, you will be the main point of contact for budget holders, providing help and support, analysing budget variances and resolving queries.
Job Summary
The role involves analysing complex data, preparing standard monthly reports, responding to ad‑hoc requests for financial information, and assisting senior finance staff in their analytical work. Travel may be required and you may spend time away from the base with prior notice.
Responsibilities
* Provide help and support to budget holders in analysing budget variances and resolving complex queries.
* Act as the main point of contact for budget holders on a day‑to‑day basis for transaction related queries.
* Assist the Management Accounts and Finance Support Manager and other senior finance staff in analysing complex data and preparing standard monthly reports.
* Respond to requests from budget holders and the Finance Business Partners for ad‑hoc reports and financial information.
Qualifications – Essential
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience acquired through working in a large and complex organisation.
* Committed to working towards obtaining a full Professional Accountancy Qualification (CIMA/ACCA or AAT).
* Demonstrated commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
Experience – Essential
* Financial Management experience working in a medium to large multi‑disciplined organisation (preferably NHS) is required.
* Excellent knowledge of General Ledger systems (preferably ORACLE).
* Good knowledge of accounting standards, finance legislation and governance issues.
* Expertise in the main Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Access, to enable regular and frequent analytical and accounting work.
