Overview
We’re Checkout.com – a leading fintech company powering digital payments for global brands such as eBay, ASOS, and Uber Eats. We are looking for a Staff Technical Product Manager to shape the strategy, priorities, and execution of our Central Services portfolio.
Central Services
Central Services provides internal platforms and capabilities that enable engineering teams to build, ship, operate, and scale effectively. It covers several platform domains:
* Data Platform – scalable, governed data capabilities across streaming, ingestion, storage, and lakehouse patterns.
* Cloud Platform – foundational AWS, Azure, and GCP environments, controls, and services that allow teams to build and operate securely.
* Developer Platform – internal developer tooling and workflows, including source control, CI/CD, and developer experience.
* Agentic Tooling – autonomous and semi‑autonomous software delivery through coding agents, orchestration, and governance.
Responsibilities
* Define and drive product strategy across the Central Services portfolio.
* Partner with engineering leadership across all domains to shape roadmaps and prioritise opportunities.
* Translate business and engineering goals into clear product direction and measurable outcomes.
* Build a deep understanding of internal users, identifying pain points and improvement opportunities.
* Balance short‑term delivery needs with long‑term strategy and help teams make deliberate trade‑offs.
* Build alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders, particularly where priorities compete.
* Establish product frameworks, goals, and success measures for Central Services capabilities.
* Lead discovery and definition for new platform capabilities and improvements, ensuring clear value.
* Partner with technical leaders to understand architecture, dependencies, risks, and delivery constraints for prioritisation.
* Communicate roadmap, progress and strategic direction to technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
* Help foster a product mindset within platform and infrastructure teams.
Qualifications
* Significant experience in Technical Product Management, Platform Product Management, or a similar role in complex technical environments.
* Proven ability to work across multiple technical domains, influencing strategy and execution beyond a single product area.
* Strong technical fluency and credibility with engineers, architects, and senior technical leaders in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, data systems, or developer tooling.
* Experience defining roadmaps and priorities for internal platforms used by engineering teams.
* Solid understanding of platform product management, including internal customer discovery, self‑service enablement, adoption, service maturity, and outcome‑based prioritisation.
* Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with pragmatic execution in fast‑moving organisations.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, aligning senior leaders with differing priorities.
* Strong analytical and decision‑making capability, using qualitative and quantitative inputs to drive prioritisation.
* Ability to navigate ambiguity, identify the right problems to solve, and create momentum across cross‑functional teams.
* Track record of leading through influence rather than direct authority.
Domain Experience We’d Value
* Data Platform – streaming, ingestion, data lakes, governance, and platform usability.
* Cloud Platform – multi‑cloud operating models, provisioning, guardrails, identity, networking, cost, and reliability.
* Developer Platform – source control, CI/CD, developer portals, and release enablement.
* Agentic Tooling – autonomous coding systems, AI‑assisted delivery, orchestration, safety controls, and governance.
Nice to Have
* Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated and high‑scale environments.
* Experience with platform engineering, site reliability, cloud, data, or developer productivity organisations.
* Familiarity with organisational change management and adoption of new technical capabilities across large engineering teams.
* Experience defining success metrics for internal platforms and measuring impact through engineering and business outcomes.
* Exposure to emerging AI/Agentic Development tooling in enterprise engineering environments.
