Job summary
We are looking for outstanding applicants with a high degree of enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to train and study to become registered Pharmacy Technicians - following completion of the PT (Integrated) Apprenticeship .
We have one position fora 2 year fixed term contract for a split role between Foss Park Hospital, York and Cross Lane Hospital, Scarborough due to start at the beginning of September 2024 .
The apprenticeship includes on-line remote learning with Bradford College and working in the hospitals covering all aspects of hospital pharmacy and medicines optimisation- working towards the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians. You will therefore need excellent time management and communication skills and the ability to work hard to complete the underpinning knowledge modules over the two-year period.
Minimum entry requirements are
1. 4 GCSEs A-C in Maths, English Language, one Science subject and one other. Level 2 Dual award Science and Level 3 Dual award Applied Science are accepted; however Level 2 Dual award Applied Science would need checking - as depending on the units undertaken it may or not be acceptable.
As part of the interview process you may be required to complete a short aptitude test.
You must provide all original certificates of relevant qualifications at interview.
Main duties of the job

To work with professional staff, patients and carers in the provision of a clinical pharmacy service in designated areas under the supervision of a clinical pharmacist or pharmacy technician, to ensure high quality patient focused pharmaceutical care
To work under supervision to perform a range of technical duties in the dispensaries to aid in the smooth and efficient running of the department.
About us
The pharmacy team in TEWV has over 100 team members including drivers, pharmacy assistants, administration, nurses, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Individual team members are spread across multiple sites, with a dispensary in each of our 3 localities. The locality teams work independently, but come together to agree standards and best practice, learning from each other and trying to improve.
We developed a 5-year Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Framework which was created with the teams to produce a shared set of themes and priorities.

To be able to competently dispense an array of medication from a variety of order forms.
To work under supervision to perform a range of technical duties in the dispensaries to aid in the smooth and efficient running of the work together with the other pharmacy colleagues, in the dispensaries and wards, to provide patients with an accurate and timely supply of medication from admission through to discharge.
To ensure medicines are handled and stored appropriately; by visiting designated wards and departments, and liaising with medical and nursing staff in relation to the stock control and quality control of medicines.
To assist under the supervision of the clinical pharmacists and senior pharmacy technicians in the provision of a ward based medicines optimisation service.
To work with professional staff, patients and carers in the provision of a clinical pharmacy service in designated areas under the supervision of a clinical pharmacist or pharmacy technician, to ensure high quality patient focused pharmaceutical care.
