Job summary
The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the Logistics team in routing, dispatching, and tracking of delivery vehicles and freight across the EMEA regions, including inbound freight from all regions, achieving a high level of OTIF while working with the best interest of our customers in mind.
Manage national and international freight carriers to ensure service levels are met within agreed costs and proactively seek service improvements.
Ensure the relevant legal, safety, productivity, quality, and financial performance indicators are met.
Specific responsibilities
* Manage the team of planning staff to provide high-quality, proactive service to operations, customers, and logistics providers.
* Exhibit the technical and operational skills required to achieve role objectives.
* Possess in-depth knowledge of domestic and international freight movement, budget control, and contract negotiation.
* Make key logistics and customs decisions to increase profitability while servicing customers at a high level.
* Negotiate with domestic and international logistics providers.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and develop operational plans for implementation.
* Monitor performance against objectives, handle complaints/errors, and reduce incident frequency.
* Control costs against budgets and take remedial actions when necessary.
* Review business performance regularly and take corrective actions to improve customer service quality.
* Maintain close contact with key customers to gauge service levels.
* Foster excellent relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
* Deputise for the Transport Manager or Head of Logistics during absences.
* Ensure adherence to health and safety practices, attend safety briefings, and take responsibility for safety of all personnel and visitors.
* Ensure compliance with environmental policies, ISO 14001, FSC, and PEFC standards.
